A Brit who has been around boats since he was 15, Julian Crisp just likes to design, build and fix things.

After leaving school, Julian attended the Marine Training and Development College in Suffolk, England where he studied boat design and build.  Julian’s first “real” job was building small tenders and then larger fiberglass boats.  From there he joined a spar company in Hadleigh, England, where his first job was making the tea…how typically English!   Julian quickly worked his way up the ranks to Production Manager.  With his strong management and quality control skills he was able to double production with the same production staff.  His love of “how things work” lead him to continue his pursuits in mast building and design which became his ultimate passion.

In 2000, Julian was asked to fly “across the pond” and become Managing Director of US SPARS.  A mast/rigging manufacturing company located in Gainesville, Florida that became one of the leading spar builders in the industry under his 10-year reign from 2000-2011.

In 2010 the idea of Sparman was born and in early 2011 Julian set sail with his own venture to assist the entire sailing industry.  His plan? To meet the needs of the countless projects, questions and concerns that seem to lack understanding and need answers…quickly.
